Darcy's Legacy began
fundraising for research into Canine Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in
2009, eighteen months after Darcy, a Deerhound, was diagnosed with
the disease. We successfully raised approx £12,000 for a research
project which was being carried out at Ohio State Veterinary College
by Dr Couto.
We are presently concentrating our efforts on generating funds for a research project into Dilated Cardiomyopathy (a serious heart condition) in Deerhounds, which is what ultimately took Darcy's life, four and a half years after her cancer diagnosis. This research project is being carried out in conjunction with the UK Deerhound Club who are match funding our donations. Although the project has the word Deerhound in the title, the research will of course be of benefit to ALL dogs in the future.
We are holding an online auction - on Facebook - starting on 28th March and ending on 6th April, which would have been Darcy's 12th birthday. As soon as our auction page is ready for you to view, we will add a link here. In the meantime, we are still asking for donations of goods or services - animal related or otherwise - to include in our auction. In return we will link back to your Facebook page or other website. If you would like to offer an item for our auction, please contact us by CLICKING HERE. If you are unable to offer an auction item but would like to make a financial donation, please use the DONATE button which is at the bottom of this page.
Below is a short video montage which we would love you to take 3 minutes to watch. We hope that our montage will help you to understand why we are carrying out this vital fundraising xx
